Why Choose Psychotherapy
Choosing to work with a therapist is an important step in feeling and functioning better. Too often, we think seeking help for depression, anxiety, or everyday problems (which seem to get worse than better), shows weakness. To the contrary, those who choose health over continued worry and stress gain positive self-esteem and experience fulfilling relationships. The connection between mind and body is a close one and emotional problems that go untreated overtime can negatively impact one's health and well-being. A decision to enter psychotherapy can be one of the most important gifts you can give yourself.
When Should You Seek Help?
The following are a few common, but worrisome, symptoms that can interfere with everyday functioning. This is not a comprehensive list and you may be experiencing other warning signs indicating a need for assistance.
Feeling ambivalent towards trying something new is understandable. To have some knowledge about the psychotherapy process before contacting a therapist may be helpful. I have added some links below that may be informative. Each therapist works a little differently, however; so the first few initial face to face conversations will give you the opportunity to understand the process and hopefully put you more at ease.
